Teno Fix® Surgical Technique

Teno Fix Quick Start Guide

NOTE: Refer to the complete instructions for use (IFU) provided with the device prior to use. This is an abbreviated quick start guide for reference only.

Step 1

step 1

Make incision along the tendon raphe no less than 1.0 cm from the severed end of each tendon at a depth of approximately 2/3 to 3/4 of the thickness of the tendon.

Step 2

step 2

Remove the orange retaining tab from the instruments and visually inspect the soft tissue anchor.

Step 3

step 3

For each of the tendon ends, insert the obturator in the center of the tendon and then insert the delivery tube such that it is fully inside the incision. While applying forward pressure, gently deploy the anchor by rotating the knob clockwise until it stops.

Step 4

step 4

Turn knob 1/2 turn counter clockwise and remove the obturator from the anchor by pulling the device straight out of the access incision.

Step 5

step 5

Insert straight tapered needle and multifilament stainless steel suture through one of the tenotomies and into the center hole of the anchor until it protrudes from the center of the severed end of the tendon.

Step 6

step 6

Insert a 22 gauge Hypodermic needle through the center hole of the second anchor until it protrudes from the center of the severed end of the tendon.

Step 7

step 7

Insert the tapered needle point into the 22 gauge Hypodermic needle until the tube and the needle point are wedged together. Use tapered needle to push Hypodermic needle through the anchor and retrieve it on the opposite side of the anchor.

Step 8

step 8

Insert suture through bead in crimper as shown.

Step 9

step 9

Increase tension on the end of the suture until the severed tendon ends are approximated and the two tendon ends bulge slightly.

Step 10

step 10

Crimp the stop bead on the suture by firmly squeezing the handles of the crimping instrument until the jaws come together and stop. Make sure the side of the crimper with the bead closest to the surface is flush with the anchor.

Step 11

step 11

Trim the suture flush with the end of the crimped stop bead. Do not cut the suture more than once.

Step 12

step 12

Close the approximated ends of the severed tendons with an appropriate epitendonous suture.
