About Ortheon Medical

Thomas J. Ward, P.E.

Tom Ward, who has two decades of engineering and business experience in the field of medical device research and development, is the president of Ortheon Medical. Tom has worked with a great team of professionals to develop the first major innovation in tendon repair technology in a generation, the Teno Fix® system.

Tom is responsible for the strategic planning for Ortheon. The vision for Ortheon is to advance the art and science of tendon repair throughout the musculoskeletal system by continual innovation of the Teno Fix technology.

Teno Fix is designed to enable surgeons to successfully perform mechanical and repeatable tendon repairs that are not encumbered by the limitations of current repair methods, which even in the hands of the most highly trained specialists lead to high re-operation rates.

Since 1991 Tom has owned and operated Ward Engineering which is principally involved in research and development efforts. Principally, most of Tom's work has been focused on medical equipment and devices that enable the scientific and medical communities.

Tom earned a BS and MS from The Ohio State University in Mechanical Engineering, and is a member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Industrial Advisory Board. In 1999, Tom was awarded the OSU Department of Mechanical Engineering Outstanding Alumni Award. During the past 15 years Tom has been an inventor on over 15 patents. Tom is one of the original inventors of the Teno Fix technology.
